What to do while you wait

1. 1. Stop all water use — no flushing, laundry, dishes, showers.
2. 2. Keep people and pets away from the tank and any pooled sewage.
3. 3. If waste is inside, contain it (towels, buckets) and keep windows open.
4. 4. If you can safely locate the tank lid without opening it, note where it is — we'll get there faster.
5. 5. Don't add anything to the system — chemicals, "septic treatments," rice, cat litter, etc. It doesn't help.
