The install process, start to finish

1. Site evaluation — we walk the property with you, look at soils, slope, well and structure setbacks, and existing conditions
2. Perc test — the county needs to see how fast your soil absorbs water; this dictates what system will fly
3. System design — for standard lots we design in-house; for engineered systems we bring in qualified designers we've worked with for years
4. County permit submittal — Tuolumne or Calaveras County Environmental Health, with all the required drawings and specs
5. Excavation & installation — tank, lines, and dispersal system, plumbed and pressure-tested
6. Final county inspection — we schedule it, we're there for it, and we don't leave until it passes

System types we install

• Conventional gravity systems — the standard when soils, slope, and setbacks all cooperate
• Pressure distribution systems — pumped and dosed to level out flow across the leach field; common on marginal soils
• Mound systems — engineered above-ground sand mounds for shallow soils, high groundwater, or slow perc
• Sand filters — pre-treatment through a sand bed for effluent quality when soils can't handle it raw
• Aerobic treatment units (ATUs) — mechanical aerobic pre-treatment; small footprint, higher-quality effluent, ongoing service required

What drives cost

• Soil type and perc rate (fast-perc soils are cheaper to install on)
• Access for equipment (steep, narrow, or landscaped lots take longer)
• Depth to bedrock (granite is common in the foothills and it's slow to trench)
• Setback constraints from wells, structures, property lines, waterways
• Whether an engineered or alternative system is required
